CAT Exam: Date, Eligibility, Pattern और Preparation Guide

CAT exam यानी Common Admission Test एक national level MBA entrance exam है। यह exam हर साल IIMs में admission के लिए conduct होता है। Top 6 IIMs इसे rotation basis पर organize करते हैं। 22 IIMs के साथ साथ 1000 से ज्यादा B schools भी CAT score accept करते हैं। हर साल notification जुलाई के last Sunday को आता है। Registration अगस्त की पहली week में शुरू होता है, और exam November के last Sunday को होता है। यह exam लाखों graduates के लिए MBA करने और अच्छी management job पाने का सबसे बड़ा रास्ता है।

CAT Exam क्या है और इसका Purpose क्या है

यह CAT exam एक computer based test है, जो candidates की verbal, logical और quantitative ability test करता है। यह exam Indian Institutes of Management यानी IIMs के MBA programs में admission देने के लिए design किया गया है।

हर साल एक IIM rotation के हिसाब से CAT exam conduct करता है। वही IIM notification, registration और result का पूरा process handle करता है। इस score का दायरा सिर्फ IIMs तक limited नहीं है। FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR Mumbai जैसे top B schools भी इसी score पर admission देते हैं।

CAT Exam Date और Important Schedule

Yeh exam ka schedule हर साल एक consistent pattern follow करता है। इससे candidates समय पर preparation plan कर सकते हैं। Notification जुलाई के last Sunday को आता है। Registration अगस्त की पहली week से शुरू होकर सितंबर के मध्य तक चलता है। Final exam November के last Sunday को conduct होता है।

Candidates को iimcat.ac.in पर regular visit करना चाहिए, ताकि exact date और कोई भी schedule change समय पर पता चल सके। Admit card exam day से करीब 15 दिन पहले download करने के लिए available होता है।

CAT Exam Eligibility Criteria

CAT exam की eligibility criteria India के सबसे open competitive exams में से एक मानी जाती है। Candidate को किसी भी recognized university से Bachelor’s degree चाहिए। यह degree कम से कम 50% marks के साथ होनी चाहिए। Reserved category candidates के लिए यह requirement 45% रहती है।

इस exam में कोई age limit नहीं है। इस वजह से fresh graduates और experienced working professionals दोनों equally apply कर सकते हैं। NRI, PIO और OCI candidates भी India में exam appear कर सकते हैं, अगर वे बाकी eligibility criteria पूरी करते हैं।

CAT Exam Pattern: Sections और Marking Scheme

यह exam पूरी तरह computer based होता है। Total duration 2 घंटे यानी 120 minutes रहती है। Paper 3 sections में divide होता है, और हर section को exactly 40 minutes मिलते हैं। एक बार section बंद होने के बाद candidate दूसरे section में switch नहीं कर सकता।

हर correct answer पर 3 marks मिलते हैं। हर गलत MCQ answer पर 1 mark negative marking लगती है। TITA यानी Type In The Answer questions में कोई negative marking नहीं लगती। इसलिए candidates इन questions को confidence से attempt कर सकते हैं।

CAT Exam Registration Process

CAT exam की registration पूरी तरह online होती है, iimcat.ac.in पर। Offline mode या cash payment का कोई option available नहीं है। हर candidate को online ही apply करना पड़ता है।

Step By Step Registration

iimcat.ac.in पर जाकर New Candidate Registration पर click करें। Name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID और nationality जैसी basic details भरें। Email verify करके एक strong password set करें। Academic qualification और work experience की detail भरें। Photograph और signature scan करके prescribed format में upload करें। पांच test cities preference order में select करें। Debit card, credit card, net banking या UPI से application fee pay करें।

Application Fee Structure

General, EWS और NC OBC candidates के लिए fee लगभग 2600 रुपये रहती है। SC, ST और PwD candidates के लिए fee लगभग 1300 रुपये रहती है। Fee एक बार pay करने के बाद non refundable होती है। इसलिए submit करने से पहले हर detail carefully review करना जरूरी है।

CAT Exam Preparation Strategy

Strong CAT preparation तीनों section के बीच balanced time management से शुरू होती है। हर section अलग skill test करता है, इसलिए तीनों को बराबर समय देना जरूरी है। Daily mock tests देना और हर mock की detailed analysis करना score improve करने का सबसे effective तरीका है।

• QA और DILR के basics पर रोज practice करें, इन सेक्शन में speed और accuracy दोनों जरूरी हैं
• VARC के लिए daily reading habit बनाएं, अच्छे newspapers और editorial articles पढ़ें
• हर mock test के बाद mistakes का review करें, सिर्फ score देखकर आगे न बढ़ें
• Previous year question paper solve करें, ताकि real exam का pattern और difficulty level समझ आए
• Exam से पहले पूरी syllabus revise करें, और नई चीजें last minute में शुरू न करें

CAT Exam Cutoff और IIM Admission

Cutoff हर IIM और हर category के लिए अलग रहता है। यह हर साल overall difficulty level पर भी depend करता है। Ahmedabad, Bangalore और Calcutta जैसे top IIMs के लिए general category candidates को अक्सर 99 से ज्यादा percentile चाहिए होता है।

Mid tier IIMs का cutoff percentile आमतौर पर 95 से 97 के बीच रहता है। नए IIMs 90 से 94 percentile तक के candidates को भी shortlist कर देते हैं। Non IIM colleges का cutoff institute के हिसाब से 80 से 95 percentile तक कहीं भी हो सकता है।
